Qualitative Assay

The Qualitative Assay was developed for a quick organism analysis of compost teas. The main purpose for brewing compost tea is to increase populations of beneficial organisms. This assay will give our clients information about the presence or absence of these desired organisms and a quality rating. This assay does not give any biomass or organism ratio data. This assay can be used with soils and composts, with the understanding that these materials are much more difficult to see through and the organism levels can seem much lower due to this. We have recommended to clients who want to test out soils and composts that they create a base line of information about a particular compost pile or field and then track any changes over time due to changes in treatment.

  • " Soil microbes are the work force that make nutrients available to the plants.
  • " Varieties and quantities of microbes required vary based on the crops are growing.
  • " With an SFI Microbe Assay, we will help you to understand…
  • The quality of your soil microbiology based on your desired crop
  • And amendments to enhance the required microbiology.

Wet Lab (Reams/Lamont) Test
  • " Wet Soluble nutrient test list the nutrients that are readily available to the plant.
  • " Nutrients that are not soluble may take several growing seasons to become available to the plant roots.
  • " Using the wet lab testing results, we can help you choose amendments to provide the nutrients necessary for your crops and microbes for this year's growing season.

PCSM (paramagnetic) Test
  • " Para magnetism is a key component in a plants ability to collect solar radiation necessary to make sugars via photosynthesis.
  • " It has been said that Para magnetism is perhaps the single greatest measure of the soils viability, potential fertility and sustainability.
