TO: Allan Streiff

Dear Allan,

I'm not usually one to get overly excited about much of anything. However, after all of the help you have given me on my garden over the last year or more I felt that I should take a moment and advise you of the results I have had under the program that you put me on.

As you will recall, when I came to you in June 2004 my garden seemed to have "maxed out". I was having problems. It seemed that no matter how much commercial fertilizer I would apply the results just were not there. In recent years I had already stopped using commercial pesticides other than pyrethrums as I had become much more interested in going organic.

You outlined your program using Hi-Calcium Lime, Soft Rock Phosphate, Azomite, Compost Tea, Fish Emulsion Fertilizer and Turf Pro. You also suggested using old hay as mulch and stated that if I did all the above that in time would not even need to roto-till any more and my soil would become very soft and aerated. I'll tell you now that I was a bit skeptical and thought that you were part crazy. However, you spoke with such conviction and knowledge that I said what the heck...I have to do something! So, I did exactly as you said and in some cases a bit more. I am from the school that if a little is good...a lot is better such as in the case of Azomite.

As we close out the summer garden and plant the fall crops I must tell you that I am astounded! You saw the onions and beets I grew that were as big as softballs and my tastiest ever. With the exception of my tomatos, every crop; celery, broccoli, corn, brussel sprouts, lettuce, potatoes, beans, eggplant, peppers – you name it – was super! It was very wet this year and I think that was a big problem for the tomatoes. I will add to the soil accordingly and as per your test results for next year's tomato crop.

What really blew my mind was when I was using 4' re-bar to stake my tomatoes I decided to test my soil softness. I pushed that 4' rebar about 3 1/2' into the soil and pulled it right back out. After doing this about 5 times I was convinced that my soil really had changed. I saw tons of earthworms every time I planted. The hay mulch keeps the weeds under control and I have not tilled in about 1 1/2 years nor do I intend to. Other than compost tea, I have not sprayed a thing! Not even the pyrethrums!

All I can say Allan is WOW and most of all THANKS!!! We are now 100% organic and it is much easier than I ever thought. I look fomard to working more with you in the future to tweak down and improve things even more. Cheryl and I also wish you and Carol all the best as you begin your new venture. If I can be of any help or used as a reference, please do not hesitate to call me or give out my name and number.

Thanks again!!!
Sincerely,

Bill Vernon
